Worldwide, 160 million children are forced to work, depriving them of education, protection and leisure. There are many causes for this phenomenon, the main one being poverty. In sub-Saharan Africa, child labour, including domestic work, is particularly widespread and has been increasing since 2012. Benin and Burkina Faso are not spared from this phenomenon. The project “Breaking the chains of exploitation of children in domestic labour in Burkina Faso and Benin” is being implemented to combat this phenomenon.
