Neer-Tamba Project, Burkina Faso: Technical assistance in Monitoring & Evaluation and data platform development

Akvo's support has been instrumental in addressing the key challenge of monitoring the Neer-Tamba project, which aims to improve the living conditions and incomes of almost 200,000 rural households in Burkina Faso. With a focus on strengthening resilience to climate change and intensifying small-scale farmers' production capacity, the project also ensures that poor rural people act as full partners in development activities. However, monitoring project activities implemented by partners in multiple rural regions was challenging without reliable data to evaluate, steer, and learn from the project. Since 2018, Akvo has been providing support by setting up a digital system for real-time monitoring of project data, training implementing partners in data collection, creating dashboards for visualising key indicators and providing an accessible database of project beneficiaries. Despite the security context in the project area since 2020, Akvo's partnership has enabled field surveys and monitoring and control of development work, resulting in reliable data for evaluation, steering, learning, and capitalization of good practices for the benefit of Other IFAD projects in Burkina Faso. Akvo's work has been critical in ensuring that the project's impact is accurately measured and reported to the donor, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and in improving the living conditions and incomes of poor rural households in Burkina Faso.
